Hi Divas!
This blog was inspired by the many inquiries that I've received from individuals who are impressed with both our products and our website presence. I must admit that I'm flattered everyone seems to like what we are doing and Platinum Wigs has been extremely well received. To briefly address those questions concerning our technology without divulging confidential information, I will share that well over 6 months and over $50,000 of development and marketing effort went into creating Platinum Wigs. In addition to the basic website look and feel, there is an extensive e-commerce solution behind the website. This is the part that the public doesn't see or realize is happening. And even after the extensive development, we continue to have technical difficulties that must to be resolved daily, so the effort requires ongoing care and maintenance. In many cases, our customers point these issues out to us and that helps us to get better.
I'm not a technical guru, but my business partners have extensive backgrounds in both technology and business which is a plus. I understand business and more importantly, the business of hair. However, you must start at a point which fits both your comfort level and budget. You can start with a much smaller budget, but you have to deliver "more" than what you promise consumers since people are already skeptical about purchasing these types of products over the Internet.
Selling human hair lace wigs is different from selling manufactured widgets such as TV's or cell phones. It's fairly easy to purchase a cell phone over the Internet because it contains a model number which makes for a simple comparison from one vendor to another. However, there are vendors who sell lace wigs and use similar language for totally different products, which means that we get a plethora of questions each day from potential customers looking for clarity because they may have already been taken advantage of or sensed that all wig companies are not created equal. It's similar to cooking. Your mom's sweet potato pie may taste much better than the neighbor's, but they are both called sweet potato pie. This is why we allow customers to order our lace wigs and return them for a full refund if they're not satisfied, and we even pick up the shipping charges for the return.
I'll delve deeper into this subject of differences between online wig vendors in another blog, but for now I simply wanted to provide a brief overview of the effort that went into creating PlatinumWigs.com. However, even more important than the technology is the customer service. Even if you begin by selling wigs or any other product online or out the trunk of your car, you have to have great customer service. A good strategy is to always deliver more than you promise. Because, if you're not doing this, then the best technology will not help your business grow.
Thx,
Taya, The Big Wig!
